Amazon Displays Prototype of New Delivery Drone

Almost after two years of displaying the first drone iteration, Amazon lately delivered another lovely update on its ‘Prime Air’ project. Surprisingly, the flying drone seemed a dream for some on April 1st.

Amazon has now switched to a new hybrid design, but the new version seems comparatively larger than the earlier one. It is exciting to imagine the drone flying towards your neighbor’s house. If this gets implemented, get ready for reports of alien rising.

The new drone isn’t a quadcopter anymore. However, it does take off and lands in the vertical direction but switches to normal flight mode that is more efficient. It incorporates the best feature of an airplane and helicopter. With the newly built design, the drone is capable of covering 15 miles over 55mph. Amazon is clarifying that it is constantly working on the family of drones for distinct environments and applications.

The new drone amazingly features sense and avoid technology. This scans the area carefully while arriving at desired location and finds a landing spot. In the beginning, the users will mark the spot with an amazon logo. “This design enables it to fly long distances efficiently and go straight up and down in a safe, agile way. It is one of many prototype vehicles we have developed,” an Amazon spokesperson reported. “One day, seeing Prime Air vehicles will be as normal as seeing mail trucks on the road.”

Even with its new design, Amazon has few hurdles to overcome. These designs won’t be available that early in any state. However, such designs are expected to be seen in a rural area to solve and determine the problematic issue. If Amazon is capable of the harder sense and avoids issues, then most probably Prime Air will take off sooner than many of us ever expected them to be.
